Mark & Risja

With raindrops falling on my window I woke up. A beach wedding with stormy rain is not your perfect combination for wedding photography. Even more so for my dear friends Mark and Risja who chose to sanctify their relationship on this July 7. But through a miracle, the weather changed in spite of all the depressing weather forecasts: dramatic skies and a stunning bridescouple resulted in lots of beautiful photos. Mark and Risja: you are beautiful! I wish you all the hapiness in the world and beyond!

So quickly scroll down for a small selection. For a more elaborate selection, you are welcome to check out my flickr website.

Jeroen en Sarah

Dutch boy meets German girl... and they marry! On a wonderful day in July, Jeroen and Sarah promised to spend their lives together in love. Being their friend and photographer for the day, I want to share some images that characterize their wedding day: laughter and spontaneity. Jeroen and Sarah: I love you. I wish you all the happiness in the world and beyond!

Wedding Mania

Every new attempt to update a blog after a long time must come with an excuse. And I finally found the most valid one. Or actually four. This summer I got to experience a total of four weddings. In three of them I was privileged to be the wedding photographer. In one I was privileged to be the groom himself.

This extreme exposure to holy matrimony made me consider a possible future in wedding photography. By now I have realized I like this thing more than I thought. Sure, it's not coolest branch of photography. It's not the stuff that gets into National Geographic or World Press Photo. But here's the trick: forget about the usual blurry sepia pictures of brides on oldtimers. Take your own style and apply it to the personality of the bridescouple.

Instead of trying to shoot the 'proper' wedding pictures, shoot what fits your and the couple's style. This might actually give you (and the newly-weds) a collection of pictures worth looking at.

As far as my own efforts: I have gotten a hang of it, but even as I got to know the trick, I'm still learning. For the results: to be continued...

Strange sights

Wandering through the city, I came across a few strange sights. Two of them are confusing, two others are funny, while the other one is just gross.
